The Dallas Cowboys could be making a blockbuster trade soon. Jerry Jones recently noted that the Cowboys are looking into a couple of trades that could happen at any time.
“We’re looking at two things that could happen before or after the draft,” Jones said on Tuesday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris. “Two pretty substantive trades. Been working on today.”
Jones did not make it clear which players or what the Cowboys are interested in, but him saying that the draft is not a deadline for such a trade indicates it would likely be a player who is going to take draft picks spanning multiple years to land. FOX Sports’ David Helman noted that the trade Jones is alluding to could be for Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill.
“Speaking of the Dolphins, no one in the league is linked to as much trade talk as Tyreek Hill these days,” wrote Helman. “Hill has been hinting at it since the day the season ended, and his current contract makes it hard to imagine he’ll play in Miami beyond 2025. The Cowboys aren’t the type of team to be swayed by the scrutiny and controversy that seems to follow Hill, but they might be put off by the size of that deal. If the Dolphins agreed to pay at least some of his 2025 guarantees, though, this is a deal the Cowboys could swing to give their offense a boost of much-needed explosiveness.”
Hill is an eight-time Pro Bowler, five-time All-Pro and a member of the Hall of Fame’s All-2010s team. He could be the perfect player for the Cowboys to put next to CeeDee Lamb. He has a $28 million cap hit after signing a three-year, $90 million extension in 2024.

Hill would require multiple picks to land, but his character concerns and contract would make him a cheaper acquisition than he should be. Trading multiple picks for a future Hall of Famer would certainly fall in the “substantive” category.
