Aaron Rodgers admitted that he’d be willing to play for any team for $10 million. The veteran quarterback, who most recently played for the New York Jets, is still on the free agency market, and some have suggested that he could sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“I told every single one of the teams, it’s not about the money … I’ll play for [$10 million], I don’t care,” Rodgers said on the “Pat McAfee Show” Thursday. “I’m in a different phase of my life. I’m 41 years old. I’m in a serious relationship. … To make a commitment to a team is a big thing, whether you’re a first-year player or a 20-year vet. I had a lot of great conversations with a lot of teams.”
Because of those comments, many want the San Francisco 49ers to give him a look, including Nick Faria of Athlon Sports, who urged them to move on from Brock Purdy for Rodgers, citing that the 49ers wouldn’t have to pay Purdy and could take the cheap way out by giving Rodgers $10 million.
“It’s highly unlikely that the 49ers would want to move on from a young player like Purdy for Rodgers at this point. The future Hall-of-Famer has burned too many bridges over his career.
“But budget-wise? This would be a solution. Don’t pay Purdy $50 million and get Rodgers to play back in his home area of the Bay Area for $10 million. … If you believe Rodgers would really do that,” Faria wrote.

Rodgers always makes comments that might not seem true at the moment, but this one could be. The 41-year-old shouldn’t expect to get much more than that, despite playing at a decent level last season, throwing for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns.
However, if he’s looking for as much as possible, the 49ers wouldn’t make any sense.
