JAMIE Vardy could be set to leave Leicester City – but only for a move abroad.
SunSport can reveal there is interest from clubs in America for the former England striker.
But the Foxes’ hitman is undecided over Vardy’s future, and he plans to make a decision in the coming weeks.
Sources close to the star say the 38-year-old is also waiting for clarity around the future of the manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
Reports suggest he could be replaced in the wake of Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League.
That decision is likely to have a bearing on what Vardy decides to do.
Vardy is widely regarded as Leicester’s greatest ever player, and his goals helped fire the club to a fairytale title under Claudio Ranieri.
It’s for that reason he is believed to only be interested in a move overseas should he part ways with Leicester.
Clubs in America are now monitoring developments and a move Stateside might appeal to him, wife Rebakah and their family as a glamorous way to bring down the curtain on a brilliant career.
Former Manchester United star Gary Neville said he still believed Vardy could do a job for Leicester if he remains at the King Power Stadium.
He said: “Look, if his body feels right he should continue… it’ll come down to how he feels. These lads are so fit, they look so fit.
“He’s obviously lost a yard of pace, but I think there are opportunities now that exist in America or in other parts of the world where you can go and play, you can enjoy yourself.
He added: “I think [he should] stay at Leicester… why not? Do they not need Jamie Vardy in the Championship?
“They’re going to have a lot more of the ball, they’re going to dominate the games.
“He knows how to work in the box in short spaces – he’s got better at that.
“There may be a position for him for 25-30 games next season.
“He still could be someone [who is] important for them.”
Vardy has still proved a threat at times in the Premier League this season.
He has netted seven goals and assisted three more for the Foxes.
However, his last goal in England’s top flight came in January in what was the club’s last win, 2-1 over Tottenham Hotspur.
