The Minnesota Vikings should be good all over the field in 2025.
They’ve got to make sure that extends to their quarterback position, too.
J.J. McCarthy is an unknown after missing his rookie season with injury. The Vikings surely like what they have, or they wouldn’t have let Sam Darnold get away and avoided signing Aaron Rodgers.
But now the hope is that Minnesota got this choice right. The Vikings can give themselves a little security with a trade.
Bleacher Report wants the Vikings to explore a deal for Will Levis from the Tennessee Titans, and it wouldn’t cost much at all.
They’d just trade a third-rounder this year to get Levis and a fourth-rounder this year.
“Trading for Levis would land Minnesota a (somewhat) experienced quarterback without potentially costing the Vikings a compensatory pick in 2026,” B/R writes. “While Levis wouldn’t really be much of a mentor to McCarthy, he has 21 starts on his resume and could be a viable placeholder if McCarthy isn’t ready to start by Week 1.”

It’s that idea that Levis could start that is so important. No one knows if McCarthy is ready, including the Vikings, who won’t really know until he gets in game action.
With superstar receivers like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and tight end T.J. Hockenson, Levis would enjoy his best-ever receiving corps. That’s gotta be enough to set up Levis for a bit more success than he had in Tennessee.
Levis was the No. 33 overall pick in 2023 out of Kentucky. He has started 21 games for the Titans, over which he has a 5-16 record.
Levis has thrown 21 touchdowns compared to 16 interceptions. It’s nothing to write home about, but a backup with starting experience is always what is needed in the NFL.
