Where Are The Best Destinations For A Golfing Holiday?

Golf is one of those sports that are played all over the world, and that’s great news if you are keen to try and make the most of the experience and to really make sure that it works as well as possible. If you want a golfing trip in the near future and you are wondering where to go, there are so many great options that you can consider. In fact, the main difficulty you have may be in choosing between them all and trying to find one that you are going to be happiest with.

Of course, you can always go to more than one, and there is no rule that says you can only have one golfing holiday in your life. In this post, we are going to take you through some of the best destinations for a golfing holiday, so you can see where you might be able to go for such a trip. Let’s take a look and see what you might want to be aware of here.

St Andrews, Scotland

This might be the number one place that people think of when it comes to international golfing locations. This is an incredibly popular place to go golfing, and one of the great destinations of the world in its own right too. In fact, it’s not an exaggeration to say that the Old Course here is legendary, and St Andrews is legitimately the birthplace of the sport of golf, so it has to get a mention here of course. Whether or not you actually play there, or you just spend some time in the town and walking the course, you’ll find it’s a great place to soak up the history of the sport, so it’s a must-see for any keen golfer.

To make the trip as easy as possible you could consider a day trip where you stow your luggage at some luggage storage in Edinburgh and simply allow yourself to walk around and see the course and the nearby pubs. It’s a great day out for any golfer, and well worth thinking about.

Pebble Beach, CA, USA

This is another of those real bucket-list destinations for golfers, and with good reason indeed. The ocean views are incredibly beautiful, the courses are genuinely world-class, and the entire Peninsula surrounding it is a beautiful dream to explore. It’s certainly not a cheap trip at any time of the year, but if you are keen to go big with your golf trip, this is probably the place to check out.

Again, it’s great whether or not you are going to play a round yourself. But if you do, make sure you book in as early as possible, because this is a popular spot and it does tend to get very busy. You don’t want to turn up and then find that you can’t play.

Algarve, Portugal

The southern coast of Portugal is packed with some of the world’s most stunning courses, and you are certainly going to find it a great spot if you want to play some golf in one of the best places on earth. You also get a wide range of courses here, from those with cliffside holes to palm trees as obstacles and much more. Plus, in this part of the world you can expect more or less year-round sunshine, and the Algarve offers a mix of championship layouts as well as more casual options. This makes it ideal for players of all grades and levels of experience.

When you are not playing, you can while away the time in restaurants eating some of the best seafood in the world, and going into some of the local shops, of which there are plenty. You might also want to sip wine on the beach and just chill. In any case, it’s a great place to be at any time of the year.

Queenstown, New Zealand

If you are looking for somewhere to play golf that is just incredibly, ridiculously beautiful, you can always check out Queenstown in New Zealand. The courses here, including the famous Jack’s Point, feel like playing inside a postcard. You can expect stunning mountain backdrops, lakeside views, and some of the crispest air imaginable. It’s also an adventure hub, so you can do some skydiving or bungee jumping too if you want in between courses. It’s up to you, but this is definitely a great spot for a more adventurous kind of golfer to check out.
