Anything can happen on draft night in the NFL—we saw that last season when the Atlanta Falcons drafted Michael Penix after signing veteran Kirk Cousins to a lucrative deal in free agency. The move ultimately paid off, as Cousins is now viewed as the backup behind Penix.
Some of the top-10 picks are still uncertain, with no clear indication of whether Shedeur Sanders will be selected in that range. However, Sanders isn’t the only player surrounded by uncertainty. Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty is projected to land with the Las Vegas Raiders, but recent buzz has cast doubt on that possibility.
The Raiders appear to be very interested in Jeanty, especially following recent comments from GM John Spytek. Spytek made it clear that his team values the running back position.
“I mean we just saw Saquon Barkley just change the Eagles in one year,” Spytek said. “There’s certain ways to build a team, and I don’t know where we got to a place where we don’t feel like running backs are valued.”
Recently, however, the Jacksonville Jaguars have emerged as a potential destination for the running back. Perhaps it’s due in part to Jeanty’s bold promise to deliver a Super Bowl to whichever team drafts him.
“I’ve taken the long way. I’m done with that way. If you pick me, it’s simple: I’m coming to your franchise to do what Saquon and the Eagles just did. I’m coming to win, big, soon,” Jeanty wrote.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN believes the Jaguars are a sleeper pick to select the Heisman finalist.
“JFowlerESPN says the Jacksonville Jaguars could be a sleeper to pick Ashton Jeanty at No. 5,” NFL on ESPN posted.
Landing Jeanty would be a huge move for Jacksonville and could signal a shift in the future of Travis Etienne Jr. The Jaguars are looking to bounce back after a disappointing season, and drafting Jeanty could bring major buzz back to Duval.
