The Kansas City Chiefs were blown out in the Super Bowl by the Philadelphia Eagles. They could be looking to make a big-time move before the season starts.
The Chiefs’ receiving corps last season was a mess. Rashee Rice went down with a season-ending injury, Xavier Worthy was a rookie, and DeAndre Hopkins failed to provide the spark the Chiefs hoped for when they traded for him. However, Last Word On Sports’ Anthony Palacios proposed the idea of the Chiefs trading for George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice will only be effective if they can find a way to be on their best behavior,” wrote Palacios. “Marquise Brown is coming back, but it’s only to win a Super Bowl and may sign himself out elsewhere for a long-term deal. After losing DeAndre Hopkins, it’s time for the Chiefs to find a wide receiver who will stay around. Pickens is the perfect fit for the Chiefs since they always figure out how to get past the off-field issues and help him become effective.”
Pickens is going to be a free agent after the season, and after giving DK Metcalf a five-year, $150 million extension, the Steelers may not be able to afford Pickens. Spotrac projects Pickens to sign a four-year, $94 million deal in free agency.
A receiving corps of Rice, Worthy, Pickens and Brown could be a game-changer for the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes could get back to putting up dominant numbers with that group of targets.

The Chiefs are likely going to invest in their offensive line in the first round of the draft. It will be difficult to find a receiver as good as Pickens in the second round, so why not trade their second-round pick for Pickens?
