Fans Accuse Lamont Roach of Celebrating Draw with Gervonta Davis Like a Victory, Prompting Angry Response

Lamont Roach responded to criticism today about the fans saying he’s treating his draw against Gervonta Davis from March 1st as some kind of win, going on a victory tour, giving interviews, and acting like a celebrity.

While WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis has been working hard training for a rematch, fans see Roach reveling in the afterglow of his draw. It looks pathetic, similar to how Edgar Berlanga celebrated his loss to Canelo Alvarez last September.

Defiant

Roach says he’s giving the media “good content” with his interviews with them after his draw with Tank, and he people need to “shut the f*** up” about it. That’s hard to do when you see a fighter acting like him. He should be in the gym, working on trying to raise his game because he gave away most of the first half of the fight by being unassertive, letting Tank control the action with his power game.

The rematch between Davis and Roach still hasn’t been announced, but it’s expected to be soon. Lamont (25-1-2, 10 KOs) will get a chance to show that his draw wasn’t a fluke, but it’s doubtful that he will. Tank is coming into this fight better prepared, with a different mindset.

“Why the hell are y’all on my line, talking about, ‘Oh, he’s on the press tour.’ First of all, shut the f*** up. Two, I don’t care. Three, people want to talk about what happened. So, I’m going to do that,” said Lamont Roach on @OneOf1x, reacting to criticism he’s been receiving for celebrating his draw against Gervonta Davis from March 1st.

“I’m giving y’all good content and good s*** to look at. This interview [with All the Smoke] was a good damn interview. It was a good conversation. Anyway, hopefully the rematch will get announced soon,” said Roach.

Yall think I care about what yall THINK im doing or not doing lol obviously what im doing is working for me. Can’t wait to see the looks on yall faces AGAIN this summer 🤫
