The Philadelphia Flyers job is officially open, as the team announced it was moving on from head coach John Tortorella on Thursday morning.
The Flyers, who are 38-36 on the season, released the statement just hours after the Flyers’ 7-2 road loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Brad Shaw, who was a Philadelphia assistant, will be the interim head coach of the team moving forward.

Why did Flyers fire John Tortorella?
The news dropped as Philadelphia is on-pace to have its second losing season in three seasons under Tortorella.
After the Flyers’ 7-2 loss to Toronto, the head coach had some interesting postgame comments when asked about coaching this team during this season in general.

When asked about why the Flyers have been struggling, he told the media that he’s not really interested in learning how to coach “this type of season.” The Flyers have lost 12 out of their last 14 games on the year.
