Titans could pull off intriguing QB trade with Cowboys

The Tennessee Titans are widely expected to take Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. Assuming that ends up happening, the days of Will Levis being the team’s potential franchise quarterback will be over.

Levis was drafted with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. When the pick was made, the Titans felt that they might have landed the guy who could fix their problem at the quarterback position.

Through his first two years, Levis has done everything but prove he can be that guy. He has shown flashes of being a potential starting quarterback, but those flashes have not turned into consistency.

In 21 career games to this point in his career, Levis has completed 61 percent of his pass attempts for 3,899 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He has also picked up 240 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Those aren’t bad numbers, but Tennessee simply cannot afford to hope and wait for him to figure out the consistency side of things.

With that in mind, Henrique Bulio of SportsKeeda has taken a look at potential trade destinations for Levis this offseason. One intriguing team on his list is the Dallas Cowboys, who could use a new backup behind Dak Prescott after Cooper Rush left to sign with the Baltimore Ravens.

“The Cowboys are expected to take a backup quarterback in the draft following Cooper Rush’s departure to the Baltimore Ravens. Dak Prescott is the undisputed starter, but Dallas will want to develop someone to sit behind him. By making a deal with the Titans, they’d only have Levis under his rookie contract for two seasons. However, they’d also have a backup with NFL experience and a strong arm to develop. This could be an option if they don’t find a passer they like in the draft.”

What would the asking price be for Levis? No one truly knows at this point. More than likely, the Titans would have to settle for a fourth or fifth round pick.

That is a depressing thought, but unfortunately it is probably the reality of the situation.

Tennessee could opt to hang onto Levis and have him backup Ward, assuming they take the Miami Hurricanes star. It will be interesting to see what the Titans choose to do.
