4 best trade destinations for Dolphins star WR Tyreek Hill

The Miami Dolphins missed out on the postseason after going 8-9 and finishing second in the AFC East last year. Their misfortunes stemmed mostly from inconsistent play which was a result of injuries sustained by star players.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion and hip injury which kept him out for seven games. The team’s backup passers didn’t provide any relief, much to the chagrin of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

The 31-year-old veteran recorded just 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns. It was only the third time in his career he logged less than 1,000 yards.

Immediately after Miami’s season concluded in Week 18, Hill told reporters in the post-game locker room he wanted to leave.

“I’m out bro,” he said (h/t The Miami Herald’s Omar Kelly). “It was great playing here but at the end of the day I gotta do what’s best for my career.”

However, Hill had a complete change of heart within a month’s time. At media day ahead of Super Bowl LIX, he confirmed to multiple outlets he wanted to stay in Miami and apologized to fans and team brass for his previous comments.

“I’m taking full accountability of what I said, man. I don’t deserve to say anything that I said,” Hill explained. “[The Dolphins] have been very good to me, so why am I going to go out and say some of the things that I said? I fully take them back, man … I want to stay with the Dolphins.”

But just because he wants to stay doesn’t mean the team has to keep him around. There are plenty of rumored suitors for Hill’s services and he isn’t getting any younger.

Here are four teams Miami could still get a decent haul from in exchange for Hill’s speed and talent.

Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones is cheap. This is well known. However, he’s proven he’ll break out the check book for game-changing stars. He did it for quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in 2024 but that’s hampered the team’s ability to bring in a serviceable supporting cast.

Hill comes with a nearly $27.7 million salary cap hit in 2025. That’s not attractive but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed with draft compensation or retained salary.

Dallas isn’t necessarily considered much more of a playoff contender than Miami. But having Hill lined up opposite Lamb with Prescott under center is just the blockbuster move Jones should be making to keep up with the rest of NFC East.

Los Angeles Chargers

Quarterback Justin Herbert has talented weapons at his disposal to lead a championship-caliber team. Young wideouts Quintin Johnson and Ladd McConkey are among them but Herbert could do with a veteran who still has a lot to offer.

Mike Williams, 30, seemingly has returned to serve in that role but his combined 298 receiving yards in 2024 aren’t going to cut it at WR3.

Hill would make defenses think twice about double-covering him, especially with Johnson and McConkey providing deadly scoring threats of their own.

Green Bay Packers

Head coach Matt LeFleur doesn’t have a clear-cut WR1 for quarterback Jordan Love. Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs combined for 2,078 receiving yards in 2024 which was good enough to contribute to an 11-4 record.

But when one of them went down with injury (and they all did at one point) Love and the offense stalled out. Bringing in Hill would give Love a clear cut No. 1 option while creating one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the league.

That’s going to translate to at least 11 wins and help Green Bay keep up with their ever-surging NFC North rivals in Minnesota and Detroit.

Baltimore Ravens

It feels like no matter which super star Baltimore adds to its roster, it’s never enough to get over the championship hump. Hill might be the missing piece.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson currently has a solid wide receiver room featuring Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and the newly signed Deandre Hopkins. Bateman hasn’t topped 800 receiving yards in a season yet but could serve as a deal sweetener in any swap with Miami.

Hill’s speed, Flowers’ hands and Hopkins’ veteran wisdom would be a deadly trio in Charm City.
