Teofimo Lopez Blasts Shakur Stevenson: ‘Boring Style,’ Ducking Fights, and ‘Trash’ Performances

Teofimo Lopez trashed Shakur Stevenson on X on Friday, ridiculing him over his comments about taking over the sport. Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) says Shakur’s “boring style” is not suited for taking over in this era inside the ring.

Herrera Avoided

Teofimo has been enjoying messing with Stevenson recently. His reposting of the Cuban lightweight contender Jadier Herrera’s callout of Shakur was hilarious, where he’s saying he’s not a baby and he’ll “kill” him.

Herrera (17-0, 15 KOs) is the guy that Shakur and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, passed over in favor of the light-hitting Josh Padley when they needed a replacement opponent for the February 22nd card after Floyd Schofield dropped out with an illness. They didn’t want to use Herrera, and there’s no other way of looking at that other than to see it as a duck job.

WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo’s career is at another level than WBC lightweight champion Shakur’s right now. Lopez is rumored to have signed a three-fight deal worth $30 million with Riyadh Season.

That’s obviously money that Stevenson isn’t getting for defending his WBC belt against the likes of Josh Padley and Artem Harutyunyan. Unless Stevenson’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, can deliver a fight against Gervonta Davis before his contract is up with him. it doesn’t look good for the Newark, New Jersey native.

That’s Shakur’s only chance for a big payday at lightweight, and he’s on borrowed time. It won’t be long before the WBC orders Shakur to defend against his #1 contender, Andy Cruz. The Cuban 2020 Olympic gold medalist can do everything that Shakur can inside the ring, but he has more power. He’s like a better version of Shakur.

The only thing that’s missing from Cruz is the gift of gab to brag about himself and post 24/7 the way Stevenson does on X. Talent-wise, Cruz is a far better fighter than Shakur, and that’s obviously why Keyshawn Davis wants nothing to do with him. He lost four times against him, and he doesn’t want to make it a fifth time.

Lopez’s X Attack

“You’re taking over bedsheets and pillows because you’re putting everyone to sleep,” said Teofimo Lopez on X, roasting Shakur Stevenson for his boring style. “You couldn’t even put Josh Padley down within six. You’re trash, you’re garbage. You’re talking to yourself on Twitter because you don’t no friends.”
