Aaron Rodgers’ pending free agency decision is arguably the biggest storyline of the offseason, as the future Hall of Famer is the top quarterback on the market and has a few teams vying for his services.
Rodgers has been connected to multiple franchises, including the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings, but For the Win’s Cory Woodroof predicts the 10-time Pro Bowler will sign with the quarterback-needy New York Giants.
“The Giants have always made the most sense for Rodgers, who could stay in New York and play for a team desperate for at least some stability at quarterback. New York could go ahead and draft his replacement, too,” Woodroof wrote.
New York is in desperate need of a starting-caliber quarterback, as the team might not be in a position to select Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, the top two signal-callers in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Russell Wilson is the only other viable veteran option on the market other than Rodgers.
Though the Steelers and Vikings are more set up for success than the Giants, Rodgers landing in New York is possibility. The four-time league MVP could work well with head coach Brian Daboll and flourish in an offense that has two capable receivers in Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton, though the offensive line does need some work.
Additionally, New York still has $30 million in cap space to sign Rodgers and potentially make other moves with remaining money. The team also has four picks within the top 100 in April’s draft, so general manager Joe Schoen has a plethora of resources available to address positions of need.
Overall, signing with Pittsburgh or Minnesota will give Rodgers a higher chance of competing for a Super Bowl in 2025. However, the Giants can’t be ruled out as a potential landing spot for the four-time All-Pro. The franchise doesn’t have a starting-level quarterback currently on the roster and may be just a few pieces away from having a much-improved 2025 season.
