Jadier Herrera’s ‘Kill You’ Call-Out Triggers Shakur’s 140-Pound Challenge: Stevenson Targets Teofimo

Jadier Herrera’s ‘Kill You’ Call-Out Triggers Shakur’s 140-Pound Challenge: Stevenson Targets Teofimo

Shakur Stevenson was mad at Teofimo Lopez for reposting a from unbeaten #10 ranked WBC contender Jadier Herrera, who called him out last Saturday night after his win over Jose Macias Enriquez in Liverpool.

Shakur’s 140 Offer

Shakur changed the frame, telling Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) that he’ll move up to 140 and challenge him for his WBO light welterweight to try and become a four-division world champion.

“How bout you fight me next, Teo.. Let’s line it up we both do business with the same people 🤫 I’ll go 140 for this on God,” said Shakur on X.

Teofimo has bigger fish to fry rather than wasting time with a fighter who has no fan base. Shakur is stuck with his outdated Mayweather, dinosaur-era fighting style, which doesn’t fit in the modern era of boxing. That style was perfect pre-Internet when fans had no choice but to watch boring fighters because there were no other options.

Teofimo was amused by the way Jadier called out Shakur last weekend, which was hilarious while at the same time chilling. A guy like Herrera could wreck Shakur’s career if he were given the chance to fight him.

That’s obviously why Stevenson’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, opted for the safe choice, matching him against the light-hitting electrician Josh Padley last month after Floyd Schofield pulled out of their February 22nd fight with an illness. Herrera was one of the options being considered, and Hearn selected Padley.

“Kill You” Callout

The Cuban knockout artist Herrera (17-0, 15 KOs) demanded that Shakur “send me a contract,” adding, “I will kill you.”

The last remark might have been in response to Shakur dismissing the idea of fighting the 22-year-old Herrera as being absurd, stating, “They keep trying to direct me toward the little kids. I want the big names only!!!!”

Fans on social media weren’t buying Shakur’s excuses, saying that his last opponent, Josh Padley wasn’t a big name, and would have be easy work for the 5’11” power-punching southpaw Jadier Herrera. Moreover, Shakur has NEVER fought big names in his entire career, especially since moving up to 135 in 2023.

– Josh Padley
– Artem Harutyunyan
– Edwin De Los Santos
– Shuichiro Yoshino

“I’m no playing. Send me a contract. I’m no playing. Send me a contract. I will kill you. Send me a contract. Don’t play with me. Send me a contract,” said Jadier Herrera to Boxing News, calling out Shakur Stevenson after his seventh-round knockout win over Jose Macias Enriquez last Saturday night in Liverpool, England.

World Champion in 4 different weight classes by age 28 shit I’m down.. Tell dude run it or stop mentioning my name!!
