The Seattle Seahawks recently parted ways with a key player in quarterback Geno Smith, but on Sunday, the team decided to keep one of its own.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seahawks have agreed to a three-year deal worth up to $25 million with defensive lineman Jarran Reed, who was set to hit the open market on Wednesday.
The deal amounts to a significant raise for Reed, who previously played on a two-year, $9 million deal over the past two seasons, when he became a key defensive starter in Seattle.

Reed had his best season as a pro back in 2018, when he tallied a career-high 10.5 sacks. He and the Seahawks parted ways in 2021 and after unsuccessful stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers, Reed returned to Seattle in 2023.
Over the past two seasons, Reed has found his footing once again, tallying 11.5 sacks, 99 tackles and 12 tackles for loss in that span. In 17 games last season, Reed posted 4.5 sacks, 15 QB hits and five tackles for loss.
According to Pro Football Focus, Reed’s 70.6 overall grade and 73.7 pass-rush grade ranked 26th and 20th, respectively, among interior defenders.
