Ryan Garcia is still salty about being sued by Devin Haney after his victory over him last April, and he says he’s not comfortable saying anything to him. He feels that whatever he says to the former two-division world champion Haney will be used against him in a deposition for his legal case.
Bitter Words
It was believed that Haney had agreed to drop his legal case against Garcia in return for him agreeing to fight him in a rematch in October. However, with the bitter way that Ryan talks about being sued by Devin, he makes it sound like the case is still ongoing.
Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) states that he doesn’t want anything to do with the Haneys, and he views him as a “B****.” He can’t wait to “Beat his a**.” Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is fighting Jose Ramirez on Ryan’s undercard on May 2nd on the Fatal Fury event at Times Square in New York City.
The plan is for Ryan and Haney to fight in October after they take their respective warmup fights on May 2nd. Garcia is fighting Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) in the 12-round main event in a fight at welterweight. That’s expected to be a walk in the park for Kingry.

Where there could be a problem is with Devin taking on the former WBC and WBO 140-lb champion Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs). If Haney loses to Ramirez, that’s going to sap much of the interest there is for a rematch with Garcia.
Devin would need to avenge two defeats unless he found a reason to have his loss to Ramirez erased by the Commission like he did with Ryan. That would be incredible, but you never know. Unbeaten records are pretty important, as we saw with Gervonta Davis, escaping a loss Saturday night with his hair grease heist against Lamont Roach.
“I’ve been classy for one reason. He’s suing. I don’t know what I can tell him,” said Ryan Garcia to Ring Magazine, reacting to being told that he kept it ‘pretty classy in London’ with Devin Haney. “Everything I say is used against me. So, I don’t know what to say to them.”
There’s nothing really to be said between Ryan and Haney. Even if the legal case has been dismissed, they’re not going to be buddies. That beat down Haney suffered has got to be a difficult pill for him to swallow as he’s no longer seen in the same light by fans and given the same red carpet treatment as before. If Ryan whips Devin again, he can close the chapter and move on, leaving his career in the mud.
“Everything I say can be used against me. So, what am I supposed to do, really? I just realized that he’s that much of a b****, but maybe he’ll sue me for that. Who knows? He may use that in the deposition. He used a lot of my Tweets in the deposition.
“Everything I said, he used against me. So, this is the weak state of mind this man has. I don’t got nothing to say to these guys [the Haneys]. I just want to beat his a** again, and that’s it. I don’t have to say anything more.
“I proved it. I beat his a**. I feel like they’re trying to get any ounce of confidence over me coming off that loss. They’ve been trying to do that since they lost, trying to gather any strength they can to try and write that wrong. It was a bull s*** call with the steroids and it was bull s*** with the steroids. All that s*** was bull s***. I don’t want no part of them,” said Ryan about Devin Haney.
