Solving the quarterback issue is without a doubt the biggest objective for the New York Giants as they enter this make-or-break offseason.
General manager Joe Schoen is getting one final chance to prove he can right the ship coming off a 14-loss season, the most in franchise history.
How the Giants go about addressing the quarterback position will be interesting as the ideal path includes the addition of both a veteran and an incoming rookie.
Though the draft is still months away, the Giants reportedly already have their preferred target in mind with Colorado star Shedeur Sanders, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
“Multiple league insiders are convinced the Giants have their sights on Sanders, but that would not necessarily keep the team from targeting a more experienced option at the position,” Raanan wrote.
It’s far too early to emphatically stamp who the Giants will prefer when they are on the clock April 24, but they have done some serious homework on Sanders throughout the pre-draft process.
Sanders won’t be throwing at the NFL combine, instead opting to highlight his own receivers at Colorado’s pro day. The Giants already have a top-30 visit scheduled with the Colorado star as well.
The main issue is that the Giants may not get their chance to take Sanders. Holding the No. 3 overall pick, the Giants find themselves behind two quarterback-needy teams in the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns.
There will be plenty of rumors and reports likely to come out as the draft approaches over the next two months, and there’s plenty of smoke suggesting the Giants want to bring Sanders to East Rutherford.
