For over two decades, the NFL ran through one man: Tom Brady.
Outside of a few outlier seasons, Brady was the one constant in the NFL from the time he became the starting quarterback in New England in 2001 until 2022 when he played his final season with the Buccaneers. Over the course of his 23-year career, Brady won seven Super Bowls, four MVPs, and five Super Bowl MVPs, breaking nearly every major QB record and establishing himself as the greatest quarterback of all-time.
Now, as Patrick Mahomes goes for his fourth Lombardi Trophy and more fans begin to view him as the better quarterback, it’s necessary to revisit Brady’s illustrious career and remind everyone quick to crown Mahomes just how dominant Brady was.

How many playoff games has Tom Brady won?
In 20 postseason appearances, 17 with New England and three with Tampa Bay, Brady racked up a 35-13 overall record.
The two seasons he did not appear in the playoffs were 2002 and 2008. In the latter, he tore his ACL in the season-opener.
Brady’s postseason record does not account for the many byes he accumulated with New England, which in their own way count as a playoff win. Brady only played in the wild-card round seven times — four with the Patriots and all three seasons with the Buccaneers. It’s worth noting that the top two seeds in each conference used to get first-round byes, but in 2020, the NFL expanded the playoffs to 14 teams and only awarded one bye per conference.
New England reached the AFC championship game in 14 of the Patriots’ 17 playoff appearances with Brady at quarterback.
The only quarterbacks to beat him in the AFC championship game were Peyton Manning with the Colts and Broncos and Joe Flacco with the Ravens.
Across his 48 playoff games, Brady completed 62.5 percent of his passes, throwing for 13,400 yards, 88 touchdowns, and 40 interceptions.
How many Super Bowls has Tom Brady won?
In 10 Super Bowl games, Brady won seven Super Bowls. His three losses came against the Giants in Super Bowl 42 and Super Bowl 46 and the Eagles in Super Bowl 52.
Brady has thrown for 3,039 yards in those 10 games with 21 touchdowns and six interceptions.
He was awarded the Super Bowl MVP trophy in five of his seven wins.
Most playoff wins for quarterbacks
Brady is far and away first in playoff wins by a quarterback. In second — with plenty of time to close the gap — is Mahomes. Mahomes is 17-3 in the playoffs, the best playoff win percentage among quarterbacks who have played more than 10 games. Two of his three playoff losses came to Brady, one in the 2019 AFC championship game and another in Super Bowl 55.
Mahomes is 29 and in his seventh season as a starter. Comparatively, Brady had 14 playoff wins through seven seasons.
Here is a list of quarterbacks with the most playoff wins.
