It took awhile, but it seems to be happening right in time for the fantasy football playoffs.
New York Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers may have finally found his groove, and as a result, the grizzled veteran may help a QB-deficient fantasy team become a league winner this December. Rodgers has produced a 104.5 quarterback rating or better in three of his last four outings with the potential for another big day when the Los Angeles Rams visit MetLife Stadium on December 22.
“He struggled with injury for a good part of the season and as he’s starting to get healthier, you’re starting to see Aaron Rodgers, the real Aaron Rodgers,” said Jets’ interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich earlier this week.
Sporting News senior analyst Vinnie Iyer tabbed Rodgers as his QB sleeper in Week 16, hinting that the four-time NFL MVP will turn in another top-level performance. With each member of a three-person panel selecting one sleeper at all six traditional fantasy positions, Iyer landed on the Gang Green’s field general. Carolina Panthers second-year starter Bryce Young and Chicago Bears’ rookie Caleb Williams were the other two sleeper picks at the position.
The 41-year-old Rodgers is coming off back-to-back vintage AR performances. Playing turnover-free football, the Jets’ QB1 threw for 339 yards and one touchdown on the road in Miami. One week later, he averaged 9.63 yards per attempt and connected on three touchdown passes in a road win over Jacksonville.

“I felt like I was healthy enough to play, so I played and that was kind of the end of the conversation there. There were games where I was more hampered and games I felt a little bit better, but obviously, I feel a lot better the last couple of weeks,” said Rodgers.
From Fantasy Football Sleepers Week 16:
Vinnie Iyer: Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets — Rodgers has thrown back the clock the past two weeks, finishing as QB11 and QB4 with equally efficient downfield passing to Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson, ripping the Dolphins and Jaguars. The Rodgers’ sudden rejuvenation is a little random, but one can keep riding it against the Rams’ young defense at home where more high volume is in store.
