There’s a very good chance the New York Giants are in the market for a quarterback this offseason after yet another tumultuous campaign.
After parting ways with Daniel Jones in a dramatic fashion, the Giants are again searching for a potential franchise leader at the game’s most important position.
Entering the final month of the regular season with a chance to lock up the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, there are a few potential options — one of them being Miami star and Heisman Award finalist Cam Ward.
Speaking to reporters Friday ahead of the Heisman ceremony in New York City, Ward was asked directly about the Giants and how he would fit within the organization.
“I just know if they get me, they’re gonna get everything I have,” Ward said via Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com.
Ward’s incredible collegiate journey, which started at Incarnate Word before transferring to Washington State and finally Miami, could make him the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft.
The 22-year-old was second in the nation in passing yards (4,123) behind Syracuse’s Kyle McCord while leading the nation in passing touchdowns (36).
As for what it would be like to potentially link up with Giants star rookie Malik Nabers, Ward had the perfect answer.
“It’d be good,” Ward said. “A player like that wins 50/50 balls, wins against man covers, he knows the soft spots in zones. He’s only going to make me better if I get a chance to play with him. He’s a No. 1 receiver for a reason.”
Much of the offseason plan revolves around whether the current regime of Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll survive the remainder of the campaign.
However, whether it’s the current regime or a new one coming in, Ward is likely going to be high on the priority list if the Giants wind up with a top pick in the draft.
