With the division wrapped up, the Bills are 10-2 heading into Sunday’s game against the Rams, a far cry from the record most expected from Sean McDermott’s side at the start of the season.
If he wasn’t already, Josh Allen is on a fast track to securing his first MVP award after throwing and receiving a combined three touchdowns in last week’s win over the 49ers – one that tied a franchise record for the most 30-point games in a single season.
This year’s Bills team feels vastly different to the one that lost by three-points to the Chiefs in the Divisional Round last year. Allen and running back James Cook are enjoying career-best seasons, while the defense has given up 30-plus points only once.
Talking to the media on Thursday, offensive lineman Dion Dawkins commented on the internal vibe within the locker room and whether the players sense anything has changed.
“I don’t want to get nobody in trouble. It’s drastically different, our quarterback is engaged,” offensive guard Dion Dawkins replied.
“It’s a beautiful thing, but it is drastically different. I’m a jokester, I’m Dion, but we all stem from the head. He touches that ball every single play, and not to say anything bad that ever happened was because of anything, but when he is fully right and he feels fully complete, we have the best shot of winning.”
I asked Dion Dawkins if something was different about the Bills this year.
His answer was exceptional. And hilarious. #BillsMafia @WKBW pic.twitter.com/BAPteAqg3w

Dawkins isn’t wrong. His comments could be as much about first-year offensive coordinator Joe Brady as his quarterback, but Allen has thrown only five interceptions all year and currently leads all other pass-throwers in EPA per-play.
Pointing to his naked ring finger, Dawkins went on to say that he thinks Allen will only continue to improve as his career progresses.
“He has shown me the best version of Josh Allen, currently. Next year it will change to a better version, and every year after that.”
