When news broke this summer that Jalen Brunson had played through a wrist/tendon injury while leading the Knicks to their first title in 53 years, and that he was undergoing surgery to repair it, it was accompanied by a report that his recovery was expected to take only a couple of months. He would be ready to go by training camp.
Brunson confirmed that on a live edition of his Roommates Show podcast.
“As you guys know, I had surgery this offseason,” Brunson said. “Just want to tell you guys I am fully cleared.”
That set off a loud round of cheers.
Brunson had an All-Star and All-NBA season averaging 26 points and 6.8 assists per game. He stepped that up during the Knicks playoff run, averaging 28.4 points per game on his way to being NBA Finals MVP. Brunson is the foundation this Knicks title team — and contender to repeat — is built upon.
Brunson also is hosting the season opener of Saturday Night Live this week (Sept. 26), with musical guest KATSEYE. You can watch the show on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT, plus “SNL” streams live on Peacock.
