Good news, Knicks fans. Jalen Brunson is good to go for the start of the regular season.
The Knicks guard told attendees at a live edition of his and teammate Josh Hart‘s Roommates Show, that he is healthy and ready for the regular season.
“As you guys know, I had surgery this offseason,” Brunson told the crowd. “And I just wanted to tell you guys that I am fully cleared.”
Brunson underwent surgery back in July after playing through a good portion of the playoffs with it. At the time, SNY’s Ian Begley reported that the rehab/recovery process would take about two months.
Brunson revealed this summer — not long after undergoing surgery — that he suffered the injury late in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. He scored 19 points in 40 minutes in the Knicks’ 109-93 win to take a 2-0 series lead — a series they wound up sweeping.
The Knicks’ unofficial captain would go through the rest of the postseason with his injured wrist en route to leading New York to its first NBA Championship in 53 years. He averaged 28 points and six assists in the postseason. His 45 points in Game 5 of the NBA Finals helped the Knicks clinch the title and earned him NBA Finals MVP.
A fully healthy Brunson will now look to go back-to-back when the season starts Oct. 5 on the road against the 76ers.
