Pete Alonso brought the beer after Mets fans caught his 300th home run

Pete Alonso blasted his milestone 300th career home run on Tuesday night, helping lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 7-5 victory against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

After the game, Alonso met with the trio of fans who caught his historic home run ball, and they traded it for an assortment of signed memorabilia in a special moment.

Alonso went above and beyond to show his gratitude, gifting beers and offering tickets to future Orioles games in Baltimore to the three fans – Michael Shaw, Nick Maldarella, and Chris Makarius – that generously returned the prized home run ball.

“On the way here, we were saying we’re going to catch his 300th home run,” Maldarella told ESPN. “And sure enough, man. It’s crazy.”

The former Mets star’s accomplishment drew a rousing standing ovation from the Citi Field crowd, displaying the admiration New York fans still hold for Alonso despite his move to Baltimore.

After the game, Alonso spent time signing each fan’s jersey, as well as a bat and ball for each of them. In addition to inviting them to Orioles games, Alonso also offered exclusive access to batting practice at Camden Yards next season. The first baseman brought out beers and posed for photos with the group, and he expressed heartfelt appreciation for their generosity in giving him back the milestone home run ball.

“Thank you so much, guys,” Alonso said, embracing each fan. “You guys are so kind, and I appreciate it.”
