“Tyson, thank you for all the kind words. You don’t have to be rocket scientists to see what’s going on here. I’ve been saying the same thing since Bournemouth. Since we had the fight in Bournemouth, I’ve been saying the same thing.”

White stopped there, but the target was not difficult to identify. Fury recently thanked him for arranging the Netflix agreement and helping get the proposed Joshua fight “over the line.” He has also accused Joshua and Eddie Hearn of blocking the event by insisting upon Wembley Stadium rather than Madison Square Garden.

That confidence dates to June. Following Zuffa Boxing’s Chris Billam-Smith card in Bournemouth, he told the media to “watch what happens over the next 30 days.” He later claimed TKO had completed the television and venue deals.

Three months later, no location has been confirmed, Fury is shopping for another opponent, and White has replaced his promised specifics with a cryptic response. By attaching a 30-day clock to his prediction, he created his own test of authority, and the continued delay has weakened his credibility.

Netflix and TKO have commercial reasons for favoring New York. A Friday night event at Madison Square Garden gives Netflix a valuable American prime time attraction without running directly against the NFL’s Sunday schedule. Wembley offers the historic British occasion, but accommodating American viewers may require an overnight main event that leaves local supporters with a 2 a.m. ring walk.

The intended conclusion is that Joshua and Hearn are refusing to cooperate. Hearn maintains that Joshua signed for a British venue and that TKO’s attempt to take the fight to New York requires different terms. Fury accepted the American proposal because his contract apparently did not restrict the event to Britain.

His Usyk callout also looks more like public pressure than a serious replacement plan. Usyk has already beaten Fury twice, and his manager Sergey Lapin dismissed the idea of becoming Fury’s backup option. Calling out Usyk gives Fury another way to portray Joshua as the obstacle while pressing him to accept the American venue.

The dispute has also exposed the limits of White’s control in boxing. Within the UFC, he controls the promotion, broadcaster, and matchmaking system. Fury versus Joshua involves separate contracts, rival promoters, Saudi financing, Netflix, TKO, and two fighters with conflicting venue provisions.

White can blame boxing’s fractured structure, but he has not found a way through it.
