Astros Prospect Report: August 20th

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books. See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (65-57) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Burrows started for Sugar Land and went 4.2 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. Sugar Land got on the board in the 6th inning scoring 3 runs on a Ferreras RBI double and 2 runs on an error. McPherson went 3.2 innings in relief allowing 2 runs and Munoz came on for the last out as he picked up the save in the 3-2 win.

Note: Ferreras is hitting .323 in Triple-A.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (55-62) won 8-6 (BOX SCORE)

DeVos started for the Hooks and went 4 innings allowing 5 runs, 2 earned. The offense got a run in the 2nd inning on a double steal and error. In the third, the offense scored 3 runs on an Austin RBI double and Janek 2 run home run. The Hooks took the lead in the 4th on a Brown groundout and a run on a wild pitch. After the RockHounds tied it, the Hooks rallied for 2 runs in the 8th on a fielder’s choice and Wyers sac fly. The bullpen pitched well as they closed the 8-6 win.

Note: Santos has a 3.38 ERA this season.

A+: Asheville Tourists (41-74) won 13-6 (BOX SCORE)

Shoemaker started for Asheville and allowed 4 runs over 4.1 innings. The Asheville offense got on the board in the first inning on a Neyens solo home run. In the 4th, the offense broke it open scoring 10 runs on a Daudet RBI single, Powell walk, Moss walk, Huezo 2 run single, Monistere RBI single, Gomez RBI single, Daudet 2 run double and a run on a passed ball. The offense got 2 more in the 5th on a Moss RBI single and Monistere groundout. The bullpen tossed a scoreless 8th and 9th inning as they closed out the win.

Note: Moss is hitting .362 in Asheville.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (61-53) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Verdugo got the start for the Woodpeckers and was really good tossing 6 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts allowing just one hit. The offense got on the board in the 8th inning on a Nowak RBI single. Rosario and Estridge closed it out with scoreless innings as the Woodpeckers won 1-0.

Note: Nowak is hitting .414 in Single-A.
