AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (61-55) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)
Alexander started for Sugar Land and pitched well allowing one run over 6 innings while striking out 8. The offense got on the board in the 6th inning on RBI doubles from Brooks and Cole. In the 7th, Alexander added a 2 run double to extend the lead. The bullpen was solid tossing 3 scoreless innings as they closed out the 4-1 win.
Note: Alexander has a .882 OPS this season.
AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (52-59) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)
Gillis started for the Hooks and allowed a run retiring just two batters before being pulled. He was relieved by Swanson who allowed 3 runs over one inning of work. The offense got on the board in the 4th inning on a Janek RBI double. The bullpen allowed another run and the offense was unable to score again as the Hooks fell 5-1.
Note: Santos has a 3.60 ERA this season.
A+: Asheville Tourists (37-72) lost 8-3 (BOX SCORE)
Asheville got on the board in the first inning on a Thomas lead-off home run. After the Emperors scored two runs in the second inning, Asheville responded with one on a Powell RBI single. Shoemaker tossed two hitless innings as the starter, but allowed two runs as he walked five. Cruz struggled in relief allowing 5 runs over 2.2 innings. Asheville got a run back in the 7th on a Powell RBI single but that was it as Asheville fell 8-3.
Note: Thomas has a .869 OPS this season.
A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (56-52) won 7-4 (BOX SCORE)
The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning scoring two runs on a Luciano 2 run double. They got two more runs in the 2nd inning on a Ramirez RBI single and a run on a fielder’s choice. Verdugo got the start and pitched well, allowing three runs, two earned, over 5.1 innings while striking out six. The offense responded with three runs in the bottom of the 6th inning on a walk to Ramirez and two runs scoring on wild pitches. The bullpen was solid allowing one run over 3.2 innings as they closed out the 7-4 win.
Note: Fielder is hitting .278 with the Woodpeckers.
