White Sox vs. Red Sox prediction: Odds, recent stats, trends, and best bets on August 6

The Red Sox amazing turnaround continues following their seventh straight win last night, 4-0, over the White Sox. Boston has now won 25 of their last 28 games and nine consecutive series. Despite dropping the first two games of the series, the White Sox remain comfortably atop the AL Central, three games clear of the Guardians. The Red Sox are now within one game of the Yankees for the top Wild Card spot in the American League and are 5.5 games behind the AL East-leading Rays.

Sonny Gray was the story Wednesday night. The veteran tossed six innings of shutout ball allowing just three hits while striking out eight to earn his fourteenth win of the season. Boston’s bullpen trio of Tyson Guerrero, Garrett Whitlock, and Jovani Morán finished the four-hit shutout, Boston’s 11th of the season. It was the eighth time this season the White Sox were blanked.

Chicago is expected to hand the ball to Luis Castillo (3-9, 5.06 ERA) who will be making his White Sox debut after a trade deadline deal with Seattle. July was a rough month for the veteran righthander. Castillo threw 23 innings in the month spanning four starts and he allowed 29 hits and 14 runs (5.48 ERA).Ranger Suarez (4-3, 3.15 ERA) takes the mound to start for Boston. The southpaw has been inconsistent in his two starts since returning from the injured list. Last Friday, Suarez allowed three runs over 4.2 innings in Los Angeles against the Dodgers but his previous start was a gem as he threw four shutout innings at Fenway against the Blue Jays.

The Red Sox have outscored the White Sox 18-2 through the first two games of this series and their opponents during this seven-game winning streak, 47-18.
