Ben Whittaker Reportedly Set For IBF Final Eliminator Against Conor Wallace

Ben Whittaker’s path to a world title shot appears to have been mapped out.

Mick Francis, CEO of Tasman Fighters, told Red Corner Boxing that Whittaker will face Conor Wallace in an IBF light heavyweight final eliminator, with the bout expected to take place on October 3 at BP Pulse Live in Birmingham. While the fight has not yet been officially announced by the promoters or the IBF, Francis said the matchup is in place.

The fight would carry major championship implications.

Wallace is currently ranked #2 by the IBF, while Whittaker sits at #3. A victory would move the winner into mandatory challenger position for the IBF light heavyweight title, putting them one step away from a world championship opportunity.

Whittaker (12-0-1, 9 KOs) has continued to build momentum since turning professional following his Olympic silver medal for Great Britain. The 28-year-old most recently stopped Richard Rivera in two rounds on the undercard of Jaron Ennis’ victory over Xander Zayas, successfully defending his WBC Silver light heavyweight title.

Wallace (17-1, 12 KOs), originally from Northern Ireland and now based in Australia, has quietly worked his way into IBF title contention. The southpaw has won multiple regional titles during his professional career and now has the opportunity to earn his first shot at a world championship.

Whittaker has built his professional career around speed and movement, while Wallace has climbed the rankings with an aggressive, pressure-heavy approach. With both men occupying the #2 and #3 positions in the IBF rankings, the winner would move into mandatory challenger status.

If finalized, the October 3 bout would represent the biggest fight of both men’s careers, with an IBF world title opportunity awaiting the victor.
