Cameron Boozer scores 15 points for Grizzlies in NBA Summer League debut

In his first professional action after the Memphis Grizzlies made him the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Cameron Boozer scored 15 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists Saturday in a 111-74 Summer League win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Grizzlies wasted no time in getting their star rookie on the scoreboard, setting him up for their first basket of the game on a pass in the lane from Taylor Hendricks.

Boozer shot 7-of-11 from the floor, going 1-for-3 on 3-pointers while playing 24 minutes. He made his preseason debut in Salt Lake City with father Carlos, who works in the Utah Jazz’s front office, sitting courtside.

The Duke star was under consideration to be picked No. 2 overall by the Jazz, with whom Carlos Boozer played six seasons, before the team selected Kansas guard Darryn Peterson.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper, going into his fourth NBA season, led Memphis with 17 points, adding 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Hendricks matched Boozer with 15 points and 4 boards. Jahmai Mashack contributed 12 points and dished out 4 assists.

The Grizzlies will next face the Jazz’s Summer League team, which will feature Peterson and 2025 first-round pick Ace Bailey, on Monday with tipoff scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.

Thunder first-round picks also made Summer League debuts

The Thunder’s two 2026 first-round picks each scored 10 points.

Center Aday Mara, selected No. 12 overall, shot 5-of-8 from the floor with 3 rebounds and 4 assists, demonstrating the playmaking ability that should make him a good fit in Oklahoma City.

Perhaps more importantly, Aday also had two blocks, showing the rim protection the Thunder will want in matchups versus fellow Western Conference contenders.

Guard Bennett Stirtz, whom the Thunder picked at No. 16 after a draft-night trade with the Grizzlies, added 3 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals in 24 minutes of play.

Brooks Barnhizer and Payton Sandfort each scored 13 points to lead Oklahoma City. However, the Thunder shot 41% (29-of-71) from the floor and hit on only 20% (6-of-30) on 3-pointers.

Up next for the Thunder on the Salt Lake City Summer League schedule is the Atlanta Hawks with No. 8 overall pick Kingston Flemings. They’ll play on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
