While competing at the amateur level, both Zaquin Moses and Curmel Moton won multiple national titles. The potential third man of the group has no amateur pedigree, and due to his late introduction to boxing, he’s been learning on the job.

A native of Durham, North Carolina, DeAngelo Evans was a college wrestler who was looking for something to do in order to stay active during the off-season. He received an invite to a boxing gym, and he decided to give it a try.

The first time Evans sparred, it was against a boxer who had a record of (9-0). The sparring session didn’t go well, but it motivated Evans to come back to the gym, and with the help of coach Marcus Luck, he gradually learned the art of the sweet science.

At the age of 20, DeAngelo Evans competed in a couple of unofficial exhibition bouts known as ‘Smokers.’ Three years later in April 2021, Evans made his professional boxing debut.

DeAngelo Evans’ first ring appearance was brief, as he knocked out Joel Franklin in the second round. After making a successful debut, Evans would go on to stop his next six opponents.

In December 2023, the knockout streak came to an end when Clay Burns survived and made it through all six rounds. He didn’t get the knockout, but DeAngelo Evans won the bout via unanimous decision.

Three months after the Burns fight, Evans started a new streak when he stopped Giovanni Gutierrez in the first round. Evans would go on to collect five additional stoppage victories.

Due to his explosive power and his facial features, people are comparing DeAngelo Evans to a young Mike Tyson. A viral rumor was circulating regarding Evans being Mike Tyson’s long-lost son, but Evans and Tyson aren’t biologically related.

After creating a buzz, Evans endured a 13-month layoff. He made a significant career move in May 2026, when he signed a promotional deal with DMG Boxing and a management contract with Wise Owl Boxing.

Shortly after signing with DMG, DeAngelo Evans was back in the ring to face Cesar Villarraga. With 2:05 remaining in the second round, Evans knocked Villarraga out cold when he landed a devastating left hook.

DeAngelo “Muscle” Evans (15-0, 14 KOs) is a raw talent who has an abundance of potential. Once he participates in a step-up bout, we may find out if Evans is just a viral sensation or if he’s a legitimate member of Generation Next.
