Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Mets – Nick Lodolo vs. Nolan McLean

Matt McLain will start at shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds in Wednesday’s series finale against the New York Mets in Great American Ball Park. Nolan McLean will start on the mound for the Mets as they attempt to stave off the sweep attempt by the Reds.

If McLain homers off McLean, I’m going to go out on a thoroughly unresearched limb and suggest it will be the first time a McLain has homered off a McLean in Major League Baseball history. So, we’ve got that to look forward to this afternoon!

The Reds go for the sweep today with lefty Nick Lodolo on the mound, the southpaw still very much in search of his best form after blister issues derailed the start of his 2026 season.

First pitch in this one is scheduled for 12:40 PM ET, so have your hot dogs ready early this afternoon.

Lineups for both clubs listed below. Go Reds!
