Astros Prospect Report: June 14th

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books. See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (30-38) CANCELLED
AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (29-34) won 15-7 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks offense continued their surge this week and got the scoring started in the second inning on Biggers 2 run home run. In the 3rd, the offense picked up 9 runs on a Brutcher RBI double, Bush RBI single, Whitaker RBI triple, Spence 2 run single and Brutcher grand slam. In the 4th, Sullivan added 2 more runs on a 2 run single. Dombroski got the start and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings of work. The offense added another run in the 8th on a Schiavone RBI double and a run in the 9th on a Whitaker RBI triple. The pen allowed a few runs but held on for the 15-7 win.

Note: Brutcher has 21 RBI over his last 10 games.

A+: Asheville Tourists (16-46) lost 9-0 (BOX SCORE)

Howard started for Asheville and had some struggled behind a few errors as he allowed 7 runs over 5 innings, though only 2 runs earned. The pen allowed 2 more runs and the offense was quiet on the night collecting just 3 hits as they were shutout in the 9-0 loss.

Note: Powell is hitting .306 this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (30-32) won 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

Gonzalez started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 4 runs over 2 innings. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Flores solo home run and a run on an error. In the 4th, Cauro tied the game with a 2 run home run. The Woodpeckers took the lead in the 5th scoring 3 runs on a Luciano sac fly, Flores RBI single and Salas RBI single. They added 2 more in the 6th on a Ramirez RBI double and Huezo RBI double. The pen was solid allowing just 1 run over 7 innings as they closed out the 9-5 win.

Note: Huezo leads the system with 17 double this season.
