Shakur Stevenson Still Wants 10-Pound Rehydration Clause For Conor Benn

Shakur Stevenson remains interested in a fight with Conor Benn, but he has not changed his stance on one key condition.

The former three-division world champion was recently asked about the possibility of facing Benn and reiterated that he would want a 10-pound rehydration clause in place if the fight were to happen.

“I’ll fight Conor Benn. I want the same 10-pound rehydration clause he put on Eubank. If he agree to that, we can make the fight happen,” said Shakur to the Still 400 – The Mannie & Juvie Show.

Stevenson has maintained the same position since moving up in weight following his victory over Teofimo Lopez earlier this year. At the time, he publicly called for a showdown with Benn but made it clear that he wanted the British fighter to compete under similar terms to those used in Benn’s fight against Chris Eubank Jr.

“I don’t see why it should be a problem. He made Eubank do it. Why can’t he do it against me?” said Shakur about Benn.

The proposed restriction would limit how much weight Benn could regain after the official weigh-in. Stevenson has argued that the clause would help offset the size difference between the two fighters, with Benn having spent much of his career competing at welterweight and above.

Shakur first raised the idea of a rehydration clause after his victory over Teofimo Lopez earlier this year. He has continued to mention the condition whenever a potential fight with Benn is discussed.

“If he don’t agree to it, then we probably don’t fight.”

Benn has not publicly responded to Stevenson’s latest comments.
