Osleys Iglesias fires back after Carlos Adames says “I’m ready”

Osleys Iglesias fires back after Carlos Adames says “I’m ready”

Carlos Adames said he can beat anyone at middleweight or super middleweight, but the claim drew an immediate response from newly crowned IBF super middleweight champion Osleys Iglesias. After Adames said he was ready for the fight, the unbeaten Cuban responded on social media, calling for the bout to be made.

The exchange began when Carlos Adames declared that nobody at 160 or 168 pounds could beat him. A fan quickly challenged him to face Iglesias, one of the more dangerous names at super middleweight.

“Who are you? What I do in the ring backs up what I say here. Whenever you want, I’m ready to prove it to you,” said Adames on X.

That brought a direct reply from Iglesias (15-0, 14 KOs), who is coming off his eighth-round stoppage win over Pavel Silyagin and has gained traction at 168 pounds after lifting the IBF title.

“No more talking. Let’s get on the same page and take the fight to the next level. I’m waiting for your call. My team is already ready. I’m waiting for you,” said Osleys Iglesias.

Adames holds a title at middleweight, while Iglesias holds one division higher, so any bout would require one side to move up. That alone makes it more serious than a routine online argument.

This exchange with Iglesias has all the markers of a potential bluff by Adames. Iglesias is seen by many as the boss at 168 pounds right now, coming off a dominant eighth-round stoppage of Pavel Silyagin just two weeks ago.

He’s a massive southpaw with a 93% knockout ratio, which isn’t usually the type of guy a champion clout-chases with unless they’re 100% serious or looking for a massive payday.

Fans will soon know if this was a social media stunt by Adames if he starts demanding a catchweight fight against Iglesias or telling him to come down to 160. If he tells the IBF 168-pound champ Iglesias to drop down, he’s just looking for an out. The clincher would be if this stays on X and doesn’t move to official negotiations between Adames’ promoters at PBC and Iglesias’s team.

The southpaw Iglesias is basically a light heavyweight who can make 168, and he’d have a significant size and reach advantage over Adames. If Adames is serious, he’s choosing one of the hardest possible ways to debut at super middleweight.
