Today on Pinstripe Alley – 4/5/26

At the end of the season, all the wins count the same. Whether it involves a triple-grand-slam blowout with 22 runs, a 1-0 near-perfecto, or a game you never should’ve won but was handed to you with a last-second error, they’re generally all equal. Call last night’s Yankees win over the Marlins something closer to Door No. 3 than the other options. But they showed tenacity in coming back from down 4-0 when Ryan Weathers was digging them a hole, and even with leaks from the bullpen and defense, they won it. They’re now 7-1 and seeking their second sweep of the young season with their 0.00-ERA Opening Day starter on the bump.

It’s a good spot to be in! But about that.

Today on the site, Josh will quote the legendary Yogi Berra in detailing how the Yankees “can make it late early” by taking care of business now, Peter will run through the Rivalry Roundup, Matt will celebrate the 149th birthday of a Deadball Era original Yankee (well, Highlander), Kento will remind the general public that the Yankees’ offense is so much more than just Aaron Judge, and John will present the latest edition of the Social Media Spotlight.

Time: 1:35 p.m. EST

Video: YES Network, Marlins.tv

Venue: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY

Questions/Prompts:

1. What’s your general reaction to messy wins like last night? Do you lean closer to concern about the red flags or satisfaction that they managed to survive a scare rather than squander the game?

2. Think Cade Winquest will ever actually pitch for the Yankees?
