The Three Best British Golf Resorts to Explore in 2026

The land of foggy Albion offers fantastic golfing experiences all across the land, but some still stand stronger than others, in a large part because of the additional leisure options they offer beyond the eighteen holes.

Here are some unknown gems and obvious standouts for you to look at if you are looking for a quality weekend getaway that still involves some quality golfing action.

Gleneagles (Perthshire)

I mean, how could you not include this gem of a venue in a list like this? Nicknamed “The Glorious Playground“, the prestige of the place has always been obvious from a golfing perspective. Even as most savvy resort owners have expanded their venues’ portfolio to provide a truly great time beyond just the green, Gleneagles is still miles ahead of the pack in 2026.

Sticking with the golf part for a second, three separate courses ensure you will always have your fair share of shots to make – but once you go beyond, it’s the spas and the shooting school and the dazzling restaurants that make a real difference in ratings. Off-road driving is also a fun pastime. Just make sure not to do it in your golf cart, or end up taking your jeep into a hole in one.

Celtic Manor (Newport, Wales)

Home of the world-renowned Twenty Ten, Celtic Manor also offers incredible leisure experiences for those lucky enough to explore its hallowed halls. Best of all, unlike some other popular golf courses, the Celtic Manor Resort isn’t disconnected from its surroundings amid the sea of green – fun and exciting activities all across South Wales are available to you.

For example, if you’re often playing UK casino online, there’s a host of brick-and-mortar casinos nearby to test your poker hand, and even the “book town” of Hay-on-Wye, which is a must-visit for any fan of literature.

The host venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup (hence Twenty Ten), Celtic Manor also doubles as a notable convention centre alongside its premium golfing activities. Maybe if you are lucky enough to hold the right kind of job, you might find yourself on a weekend company getaway amid the manor walls? Do let us know if that is the case, and tell us who to give a call to. We’re only asking because of the pristine golfing opportunities, of course.

Stoke Park (Buckinghamshire)

If you are looking for a bit of movie magic with your golfing, the venue that appeared alongside Bridget Jones and James Bond (specifically, Goldfinger) alike is a strong choice – a genuine British institution with many regional delights. Even with the renovations taking place in early 2026, it is an incredible sight.

The mansion building that forms the centrepiece of the estate was designed in 1788, and it still looks striking today. With 300 acres of green to explore, there’s truly something for everyone here – and believe you me, a 4.5-star rating on TripAdvisor is definitely warranted based on what the reviewers are saying about this spectacular experience. And, just to reiterate: Bond. James Bond.
