Caroline Dubois Accuses Alycia Baumgardner Of Skipping 130-Pound Fights

“This fake coward!! … Called out and offered a super featherweight for a fight. That’s who this clown wanted to fight,” Dubois posted. “Miss scary ass says she will move up to fight Claressa Shields at 147, Katie Taylor at 140.”

Dubois is saying Baumgardner isn’t taking the fights at 130.

Fighters are starting to skip over their own divisions when the bigger fights are a weight class higher. The belts stay with them, but the contenders underneath are left waiting.

Baumgardner (17-1, 7 KOs) is now in that position. Serrano stands out as the biggest fight still available. The other names she mentioned sit above her weight class and bring more attention.

They’re pointing in different directions. Baumgardner is talking about Serrano and bigger names above her weight.

Dubois sees it differently. Baumgardner still has the belts at 130 but is talking about fights two divisions higher, leaving the contenders underneath waiting. Dubois holds a title at lightweight and is pushing for a fight closer to their natural weight classes.

Baumgardner hasn’t responded to the accusation. Her focus remains on Serrano. IBF, WBA, and WBO super featherweight champion Baumgardner is coming off a 12-round unanimous decision over Leila Beaudoin last December.

Baumgardner, 31, has already beaten most of the names at 130, which has left fewer obvious options in the division. Dubois wants the fight that is there, while Baumgardner is chasing the one that pays. From Alycia’s perspective, she’s just looking for the fights that pay to take advantage of her popularity. It’s understandable.
