Ryan Garcia reminds Devin Haney of ‘4-20’ in latest feud

“Sign up for drug testing… then we can fight after I beat Rolly,” Haney posted on X, outlining a timeline that places a second fight with Ryan behind his expected bout with Rolando “Rolly” Romero. The two are negotiating a welterweight unification fight targeted for May 30.

Ryan responded by bringing the conversation back to the night the two first met in the ring.

“Anything to disclaim what happened to you 4-20,” Ryan said. “The fear I told you about is still there and will forever be there.”

The comment refers to their April 20, 2024, fight, when Ryan dropped Haney several times in a performance that surprised many fans.

The result, however, did not stand. Ryan later tested positive for the banned substance ostarine, leading the bout to be overturned and ruled a no contest.

That situation remains the biggest point of disagreement between them, with Haney insisting stricter drug testing must be in place before agreeing to a rematch.

The dispute hasn’t gone away, but the appeal of a second fight is obvious. A rematch between the two rivals would likely draw far more interest than Devin’s upcoming bout with Rolly.

Haney’s message suggests he already sees Ryan as the more important opponent once the Romero bout is finished.

Ryan, meanwhile, continues to keep the rivalry alive publicly, often bringing the conversation back to April 20. Ryan has also suggested the rematch would settle the argument about their first fight once and for all.

In another post on X, Ryan said Haney “will never touch the ring after that,” predicting a second fight would be severe enough to send Devin into retirement. The remark reflects Ryan’s belief that his victory over Haney had nothing to do with the failed drug test and that a rematch would prove it again.
