Argentario Golf Club is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2026, highlighting two decades of sustainable development, tournament staging and international recognition on the Tuscan coast.
Opened on 2 June 2006 on Monte Argentario in south west Tuscany, the 18 hole course was created by owner Augusto Orsini, inspired by childhood visits to the area. The par 71 layout overlooks the Orbetello Lagoon and sits within protected Mediterranean terrain near the Duna Feniglia Nature Reserve.
Sustainable vision and growth
From its inception the club adopted eco compatible maintenance practices, earning BioAgriCert status and joining Italy’s Impegnati nel Verde programme.
Facilities expanded in 2019 with the opening of a new clubhouse, while the same year saw Argentario named PGA National Golf Course Italy by The Professional Golfers’ Association.
The resort further strengthened its global profile in 2023 by joining the Marriott Golf Hotel Reciprocal Programme, giving members access to around 30 partner courses worldwide when staying at selected Marriott properties.
Tournament host and tour milestone
Argentario has staged leading professional events including the Ladies Italian Open and Italian Open Championship in 2008, the Senior Italian Open in 2022 and the Italian Challenge Open in 2024.
Its highest profile moment came in June 2025 when it hosted the 82nd Italian Open on the DP World Tour, won by France’s Adrien Saddier. The venue has also welcomed notable players such as Gary Player, Paul McGinley and Matteo Manassero.
Orsini said the aim remains to develop Argentario as an international reference point where sport, sustainability and hospitality coexist, while welcoming golfers from around the world to experience the Tuscan destination.
