‘Turn the bloody music down’

ROY KEANE called on Manchester City stars to show more respect after their 2-1 win at Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola‘s side produced an incredible late comeback to beat the reigning champions 2-1 at Anfield.

After the game, City players blasted music from their dressing room as they celebrated their triumph.

During Reds boss Arne Slot‘s post-match interview with Sky Sports, the tunes could be heard loud and clear.

As presenter Dave Jones linked back to the studio, he said: “Arne Slot there, with Patrick Davison, and it sounded like he was talking to him in the cloakroom of a nightclub!”

Jones, 52, then asked how pundit Keane would have responded to something similar in his Manchester United pomp.

The Irishman, 54, replied: “I’d be interested to see if the music is on when Pep’s doing his talk.

“Man City go there, they’re entitled to enjoy themselves, but you also have to show a bit of respect.

“Turn the bloody music down when people are doing press interviews. It’s ridiculous.”

This elicited a loud laugh from Jones, who enjoyed Keane’s dour response to the City stars’ dressing room party.

Slot, meanwhile, had been left fuming by referee Craig Pawson’s decision not to send Marc Guehi off for a foul on Mo Salah.

The Dutchman, 47, felt that Guehi had denied a clear goalscoring opportunity, although the officials deemed that there had been a covering defender.

Slot said: “If l had to talk about one moment, it would be when Salah was through on goal and Guehi had his shirt.

“That was definitely a goalscoring opportunity. Out of a hundred people, we could find 20 people from the PGMOL who would say it wasn’t a red card.”

Liverpool had taken the lead on 74 minutes via Dominik Szoboszlai‘s fantastic 30-yard free-kick.

As co-commentator Gary Neville lamented Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva‘s lack of impact, the pair linked up for the latter to poke home an equaliser.

Haaland then scored from the penalty spot in the 93rd minute, after Alisson brought down Matheus Nunes in the box.

Liverpool subsequently threw everyone forward, including their goalkeeper, in the pursuit of an equaliser.

This led to Szoboszlai being sent off in the 100th minute following a controversial VAR check, which disallowed Rayan Cherki‘s strike after deeming Liverpool’s Hungarian star, and Haaland, to have both fouled each other before the ball had trickled over the line.

Szoboszlai was given his marching orders for having denied a clear goalscoring opportunity, while the goal was disallowed as Haaland’s pull on his former Red Bull Salzburg team-mate stopped him from potentially being able to clear the ball.
