Jeremy Jacquet left screaming in agony as new £60million Liverpool signing is forced off injured in latest Rennes defeat

NEW Liverpool centre-back Jeremy Jacquet was forced off with a shoulder injury for Rennes on Saturday.

Jacquet, 20, agreed to join the Reds over the summer for £60million but the defender had a night to forget in his first action after the deal was announced.

Rennes were already 2-1 down to surprise Ligue 1 leaders Lens when Jacquet was forced off.

He went down holding his shoulder and needed taking off after 69 minutes.

Jacquet could be seen screaming in pain as he was treated by medical staff and deemed not able to continue.

The result made it four losses in a row for Rennes, with three of those in Ligue 1.

They are now sixth but could fall below both RC Strasbourg and Toulouse before the weekend is over.

Jacquet has played six times since the start of January when talks over his future began.

Chelsea had been keen to buy the young defender but Liverpool came in late on.

Against Lens it was a case of Prem flops doing the business.

Former Chelsea forgotten man Malang Sarr played at the back for Pierre Sage’s men, with Crystal Palace disappointment Odsonne Edouard on the scoresheet.

New signing and ex-Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin also bagged from the bench.

Club America signed the forward last summer but Lens picked him up on deadline day after he ended his Mexican stay over vile racist abuse of his daughters.

As for Jacquet, things don’t get any easier for him and Rennes with the visit of PSG up next.
