Richard Keys and Andy Gray could quit live football TV for good after leaving beIN Sports role after 13 years

RICHARD KEYS and Andy Gray are set to leave beIN Sports and may leave broadcasting for good, reports suggest.

The commentary duo were big names in the UK when they worked for Sky Sports.

They both left the broadcaster when tapes of them making derogatory and sexist remarks about female assistant referee Sian Massey and colleagues were leaked in 2011.

Gray, 70, was sacked after a video was released showing him making inappropriate comments to presenter Charlotte Jackson, with Keys, 68, then resigning as well.

The pair then headed to join Qatar-based broadcaster beIN Sports in 2013.

They fronted the channels Premier League and Champions League coverage across 24 nations in the Middle East and North Africa and anchored coverage for the 2022 World Cup based in Qatar.

However, Keys and Gray are set to part ways with beIN when their contracts expire at the end of the season after 13 years together.

According to The Telegraph, the pair are planning a return to the UK together but are not expected to present live commentary.

They are not currently expected to front coverage of this summer’s World Cup in North America, which would see some of the games take place in the middle of the night in Doha.

There has been no fallout between the parties, but rather an amicable end to their working relationship, as reported by The Athletic.

SunSport has approached beIN Sports for comment.

Keys is set to move in permanently with his wife Lucie Rose, with whom he has been in a long-distance relationship since they got married in June 2023.

The TV duo faced further criticism for their behaviour by BBC presenter Gabby Logan in 2022.

Writing in her memoir, she claimed the duo subjected her to sexist provocation about her pregnancy on board a flight to the 2005 Champions League final.

She also branded them, “dinosaurs waiting to become extinct”.

Keys threatened legal action over the claims, while Gray insisted he was hurt by the allegations.

The bad blood flared up again last month when Logan paid tribute to her former Leeds, Coventry and Wales midfielder and late father, Terry Yorath.

Keys had said on Twitter: “Sad to hear the news of Terry Yorath’s passing. He was a warrior & won fans over wherever he played.

“He was great for us at Coventry & the reason I got Gabby a job at Sky.

“I had no idea who she was when we met but I knew her dad. RIP Terry. Your daughter did you proud.”

TNT Sports and ITV presenter Laura Woods scorned the comments, saying: “Sorry… but what a t–t. Said with zero surprise.”

She added: “Also want to add my respects to the thousands of others who are showing theirs compassionately to a much beloved broadcaster and her family. Sending all my love x.”
