Arsenal agree double deadline day transfer swoop as they continue aggressive recruitment drive at academy level

ARSENAL have pulled off a double deadline day academy swoop as they add even more talent to their youth ranks.

The Gunners have agreed deals to sign both Stoke City defender Jaden Dixon and St Mirren striker Evan Mooney.

Dixon, 18, will join Arsenal in a deal worth around £500,000 plus add-ons.

The versatile defender, who can play anywhere across the backline, has signed a long-term contract with the Gunners.

Dixon has been a big part of Stoke City’s U21s since joining from Tottenham’s youth setup in 2023 and made his senior debut in 2024.

He has also represented England at U17, U18 and U19 levels, where he has played alongside Arsenal ace Max Dowman.

Dixon was coached by former Stoke star Ryan Shawcross during his time in the Potters’ youth setup, claiming he had been a huge support to him.

The teen previously said: “Ryan has taught me a lot, especially when it comes to my game off the ball and out of possession.

“I also feel like I’m naturally more of a player who is comfortable on the ball, but he has really implemented those necessary traits off the ball into my game, which has added good balance.”

Arsenal will bolster their academy further by signing St Mirren forward Evan Mooney.

Mooney, 18, was at Arsenal’s training ground on Monday to finalise a deal worth around £400,000 plus add-ons.

The striker has played for St Mirren’s first team but will join the Gunners’ Under-21s.

Arsenal are currently in the middle of an aggressive recruitment drive at academy level.

The club are set to sign Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero next year, as well as Irish midfielder Victor Ozhianvuna.
