Rio Ferdinand shares passionate 144-word statement as Man Utd fans fear it’s ‘Ole at the wheel all over again’

RIO FERDINAND raced on to social media to shower Michael Carrick with praise after Manchester United’s thrilling win over Fulham.

It looked like the Red Devils would have to settle for a point after Casemiro and Matheus Cunha’s goals were cancelled out by Raul Jimenez and Kevin.

But United wrapped up a stunning 3-2 victory thanks to Benjamin Sesko’s strike deep into stoppage time.

And Ferdinand, 47, reckons new boss Carrick should be lauded after guiding the Red Devils to three triumphs on the spin.

The Old Trafford legend shared a passionate statement on X, which read: “The stadium has the energy back. It’s still early days yet. But the fans have bought back in and seem all in on this new set-up.

“The manager and the players have to take credit for that newfound energy.

“They’ve had to get the results, show resilience, show character and turn the tide back in their favour.

“Again, it’s only the start but after the last two games vs the top two teams we have got used to dropping points in the games vs the Fulhams of this world (no disrespect).

“That must have been the focus this week leading up to this game: ‘We have to win this one… it’s more important than the last two results, this’ because of the scars from games like these before.

“Mentally, this is a huge game for this squad and management. Momentum. Roll on.”

Ferdinand famously pushed United to make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer their permanent boss during his interim reign in 2019.

And fans made it clear on social media that they are worried the ex-England man has not learnt his lesson when it comes to eyeing the Red Devils’ next chief.

One said: “It’s Ole at the wheel all over again.”

Another added: “Don’t say it Rio, don’t say it, not yet…”

A third noted: “Carrick at the wheel. Boom!”

But a fourth chimed in: “Say it Rio.”

Carrick, 44, was appointed as United’s boss until the end of the season after Ruben Amorim’s exit last month.

He has now guided the Old Trafford giants to wins over Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham.
