Tim Henman suffers major wardrobe malfunction at Australian Open as Laura Robson smiles in elegant dress

FORMER tennis star Tim Henman suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction while covering the Australian Open.

The former world No4 was lending his expertise to TNT Sports’ coverage of the major event in Melbourne when he got caught out by the extreme conditions.

The tournament has reached some extreme temperatures at this year’s edition, with a high of 43 degrees being recorded in the afternoon.

The conditions required a break in play as the “Heat Stress Scale” reached its highest marker of 5.0.

And while competitors were struggling to cope with the intense environment as play got back underway, some attendees battled the conditions in their own way.

One of them was Henman, who, despite the Aussie heat, decided to wear a grey polo shirt during his appearance in front of camera for TNT Sports.

The result was a slightly awkward display as Henman tried to cope with the sweltering weather while clearly sweating through his shirt.

To make matters worse for the 51-year-old, his co-host Laura Robson playfully uploaded a clip from their presenting to her Instagram story.

She joked: “Some people can’t handle the heat.”

To add insult to injury, a grinning Robson appeared in the clip next to the struggling Henman in an elegant denim dress, showing barely any signs of the heat at all.

Players have commented on the heat at the venue, with women’s world No1 Aryna Sabalenka addressing the conditions and joking that the female players cope better than the men.

She said after defeating Iva Jovic in straight sets: “At the end of the match, it was really hot out there.

“I’m glad they closed the roof almost halfway so we had a lot of shade in the back [of the court].

“I guess, as a woman, we are stronger than the guys. They had to [fully] close the roof for the guys so they don’t suffer, you know.”

If Henman and Robson are anything to go by, there might be some truth to the idea that the women are handling the conditions better.
