Shakur Pushes Retirement for Crawford, But “Beaten Everyone” Gets Checked

Shakur Pushes Retirement for Crawford, But “Beaten Everyone” Gets Checked

No Names Attached

Shakur doesn’t name the fighters that fans say Crawford couldn’t beat. That would be helpful, because the opposition has faced since 2014 has been less than spectacular.

“Retire. If I’m Bud Crawford, I’m the greatest. What am I doing? I already proved y’all everything. There’s nothing else to prove y’all anymore,” said Shakur Stevenson to The Breakfast Club 105.1, when asked if Terence Crawford should fight a rematch with Canelo Alvarez or retire.

Beaten Everyone Claim

“I beat all the guys that y’all said I couldn’t beat,” said Shakur, but failing to mention the fighters that Crawford beat that fans said he couldn’t. If I was him, ‘I did everything. What am I doing? We go fight Canelo again; he can’t beat me. The only thing that may happen is I may stop him this time.”

In recent times, the only fighters fans questioned whether Terence could beat are Errol Spence, post-2019 car crash, and Canelo.

Two Defining Wins

There are many fighters that Crawford hasn’t beaten who are in their primes. What we can say is that Crawford beat two popular fighters who got a lot of attention. But it would mean more if he stayed in the game to fight some of the other fighters besides Alvarez.

It’s understandable why Shakur wants Crawford to retire now. The longer he stays in the game, the higher the chance that he loses. Turki Alalshikh is going to want value for the money he pays Crawford. So, he won’t bow down and pay him a fortune to face only opposition that is tailor-made for his fighting style, the way the flat-footed 35-year-old Canelo is.
