Mohamed Salah blasted as ’embarrassing’ and ‘disrespectful’ as favourites to sign star after bombshell interview emerge

MOHAMED SALAH sensationally hinted that he could leave Liverpool in January after being left on the bench against Leeds – and former Premier League title-winner winner Chris Sutton has hit back.

The Reds threw away a two-goal lead and were made to settle for a point at Elland Road on Saturday.

But the bigger headlines came after the stalemate – thanks to Salah accusing Liverpool of throwing him under the bus.

The Egyptian also claimed his relationship with boss Arne Slot has broken down.

In Salah’s explosive interview, he said: “I’m very, very disappointed. I have done so much for this club.

“Everybody can see that during the years and especially last season.

“It seems like the club is throwing me under the bus. That’s how I feel.

“It’s very clear that someone wants me to get all the blame.

“I said many times before I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why.

“It’s not acceptable for me. I don’t know why that happened always to me, I don’t get it. If I was somewhere else, the club will protect its player.

“I don’t know why I’m in that situation now but again it’s how I see it.”

But Sutton, who counts Norwich, Blackburn and Celtic among his former clubs, has slammed Salah on X.

He said: “Embarrassing from Mo Salah and disrespectful to his teammates and his manager.

“Salah is no different from any other player. If a player’s form drops as Salah’s has, he is the same as anyone else and has to accept being benched. But he thinks he’s too good to be benched sadly.”

BBC expert Guy Mowbray also criticised Salah, 33, for his post-match comments at Elland Road.

He said: “I’m afraid I’m not having that from Mo Salah. It’s been clear to everyone that he’s having a dip in form. It happens to the best.

“Left out? Yes. Understandably. Arne Slot praised his professional attitude last week. You work to get back in. This smacks of wanting ‘an out’.”

Ex-Liverpool striker Stan Collymore reckons Liverpool need to quickly sanction Salah’s exit if he wants to quit.

He wrote on X: “The solution to what is now a very open sore is simple (ish).

“Player and manager talk privately. Manager tells player what he wants from the player. Player commits or tells manager he wants out.

“If player wants out, make it happen quickly. If not, pick the player and let him be judged by his continued performances.

“If they’re poor, manager can’t lose, ‘I told you so’. If they’re great, manager can’t lose.

“So Slot playing Mo is a very good starting point, especially as two very big signings have yet to make Mo ‘yesterday’s man’.”

If Salah does head through the Anfield exit door, Saudi Arabia appears to be his most likely destination.

Bookmaker Coral have the forward odds-on, at 5-6, to leave Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Salah is 1-5 to sign for any Saudi side next, while he is 6-1 to join Galatasaray and 8-1 to switch to any MLS club.

Coral’s John Hill said: “Our odds suggest Mo Salah’s future is in the balance heading into the January transfer window.

“If Salah decides his future is away from Anfield, he is as short as 1-5 to join any Saudi club.”
