‘Surely he’s not said that’

FOOTY fans were left gobsmacked last night after a BBC presenter made a cheeky on-air dig during the World Cup draw.

This was right after Donald Trump took to the stage.

The US President was invited to deliver a speech before the balls were drawn, but it dragged on long enough for viewers to start getting twitchy.

And the BBC host couldn’t resist.

With a wry grin, he joked that he “hoped the draw would be finished in time for the first match to kick off in June”

A line some fans say was “what everyone was thinking” as the ceremony started to feel like it would last longer than the tournament itself.

Social media erupted within seconds. One viewer wrote: “Surely he’s not said that! BBC presenter with the truth!”

Another added: “Thank you! Someone finally said it. This draw was going on FOREVER.”

When the balls finally rolled, England found themselves placed in Group L alongside Ghana, Croatia and Panama.

A mix fans branded everything from “manageable” to “sneaky difficult”.

Boss Thomas Tuchel looked stone-faced as the group flashed up on screen, before offering the classic manager’s line: “There are no easy games at a World Cup.” But his raised eyebrows told the real story.

Supporters weren’t shy in sharing their verdicts. “Ghana andCroatia? That’s spicy.

Another said: “Panama the only breather there.” .

Someone else moaned: “Croatia again? We’re cursed.”

Others were more upbeat, insisting England should still top the group “if we don’t bottle it”.

But many were still laughing about the presenter’s quip with one saying: “The BBC presenter deserves a raise for that. Hero behaviour.”
