However, the area was beset by heavy wind and rain on Friday.

It saw chiefs question whether to push ahead with the match.

But after making sure conditions were ok to play in, the match was pushed back to an 8.15pm kick off.

The late decision was only announced less than hour before the original start time, with bad travel conditions also cited.

Fans of both Hull and Middlesbrough blasted the move on social media, with one saying: “Shambles.”

Another declared: “I’ve just stood in a puddle and my foot is soaking.”

One noted: “Woke.”

It was hardly ideal preparation for either side, who are both in desperate need of a win.

As for Hull, they’ve worked their way to a mid-table spot after beating the drop last season.

The Tigers lie ninth in the table and are only a point off the playoff spots.

Indeed, they would move just two points behind Middlesbrough with a win tonight.
